Richmond, VA has been 100+ degrees lately. Very similar weather to South Sudan. I find it easy to forget what it was like to be in South Sudan even though I was there two weeks ago. Editing photos helps me relive my adventures. I'm currently sitting in a coffee shop, editing away while drinking water from a water bottle and whenever that water bottle empties, I walk 10 steps and refill it. Again and again. Reality is, I don't have to worry if the water will run out. Such a juxtaposition to the photos I am editing. Often women and children have to walk miles and miles to fetch water. They are courageous. And honestly, having to walk miles for water is one of the least of their worries. As South Sudan is building itself up as the newest Country in Africa, hardships arise. Closed clinics, land mines, border clashes, lack of food and water are just a few of the hardships that the South Sudanese face daily. World Relief has set up four specific projects to aid South Sudan in their rebuilding. I'm looking forward to sharing more with you once all the photos are edited.
