My friend, Stepha, is incredibly talented. She made the wedding dress and helped style this hunt-inspired shoot.
2014
2014 has been a busy year already! Thank God. This year has been peppered with travels, new clients, and amazing people. Every person or project I've photographed has challenged my creativity and skills. I've had shoots that have boosted my confidence and shoots that have built my character. When approaching 2014, I wanted a change in the wind with my business. I took a leap of faith to take on less weddings and trade my free time for more commercial and editorial work. It has been amazing! I've been able to fully focus on the couples who's weddings I document and be freed up during the week to partner with businesses to share their story. June is almost over and I have barely put up any of my work from 2014. Yep. I want to be better at keeping up with posting my shoots from throughout the year. I often feel pressure to keep up with the trends in the photography world, like writing beautiful blog posts to pave the way for photos. Since I am not a writer, this is often my hold up to posting my work. So, for the next few weeks I am going to try something new. I am going to try posting more work and freeing myself up from the pressure of writing. I hope the photos can speak for themselves and I look forward to sharing these amazing people and projects with you.
Hello Again
Oh, hey! ....it's October! My favorite season is finally here. So glad to start packing up the summer clothes and bring out the fall ones. This summer was b u s y. Between shoots, editing, travel, and enjoying the summer, time flew by. Annnd, here it is October 9th already. As you may have noticed, my blog didn't quite get the attention it deserves (sorry). I guess you could say it went on summer vacation too (? probably not). I've been enjoying the work flowing in and out of Kate Magee Photography and am finally taking some time to gear up for this new season and reflect on the past one. This summer I was blessed with many amazing new clients...guys, there's some really awesome things happening around here! I'm going to do my best to keep you all updated. For now, here's a hefty bit of a "show and tell" for you to catch you up on a few highlights from the past summer months. See you soon!
If you'd like to keep up with my work in between blog posts, please follow me on instagram here!

Welcome.
Welcome! Come on in. Make yourself at home. Grab a cup of coffee and curl up on this November day. I’d like to welcome you to the new home for my photos! I last introduced you all to katemagee.com back in June 2010. I had just arrived home from Africa and was eager to continue and share my work. I had little experience with web design, but having a graphic design background, I knew what I wanted, and so, I created a blog. I loved being able to update the blog with different shoots I was working on. The blog worked for a while. Fast-forward two years and the array of work I’ve done has outgrown this little blog. I wanted something that would better connect you to the work that I’m doing
A few months ago I met with great friends, Chris Payne and Robb Major, from Well Done Creative. I shared with them my dreams of what my new website would look like. Elegant, clean, and timeless. I wanted something that would reflect and compliment my photos and allow them to stand for themselves. Together we started creating a site that did just that. A gallery driven site allows me to showcase my strongest pieces in the areas of photography I offer, while the blog will continue to update you on the different shoots I’m currently working on.
I love this journey. And I welcome you to walk it with me. Photography has become an expression of how I view the world. Literally, the way I see is delivered to you in a single photograph. Whether it’s an intimate moment between a groom and his new bride, parents and their children, or a charity project overseas.... each time I lift a camera to my eye is part of my journey. Each person I work with to capture their story have now become a part of my own story. I’m sure many of you will see yourselves scattered throughout my website. Thank you for being there. It’s you who keeps me encouraged to keep shooting...to keep maturing my creative eye...to keep telling stories like yours.
So, just as my photos have finally found a home, I hope you feel at home too. Please visit as much as you’d like. No need to knock. The stories, the photos, the journey....we’ll all be here. Enjoy some Autumn photos below, and stay warm!
