McLeod Family

Thursday 04.04.13

Fran and her family are some of my favorite people to photograph.  They are hilarious, fun, photogenic, and most of all, its like hanging out with family when I am around them.  I met Fran a few years back when I first move to Richmond.  At that time I only knew her as the "Kitchen Beautician."  (She has her own salon in her house, right off the kitchen). Everyone and their mom recommended Fran to me for the best haircut in town.  And its true.  She is an amazing woman who not only knows how to do a mean hairstyle, but she also really listens while you are sitting on her salon chair.  In all, she's wonderful. She also has the cutest dog, Tank.  I might be biased since I've been blessed with the title of "Godmother."

Erin & Scott | Winter Wedding

Friday 03.29.13
Comments: 1

This winter seems to be dragging on and on for us Virginians. One day it feels like spring is here, the next I'm back to grabbing my coat and gloves.  I can not wait for the warmth of the sun to arrive and stay. I figured, however, this would be a perfect opportunity to share with you my favorite winter Wedding from this past year! Erin and Scott have the most adorable story.  They grew up a few houses down from each other.  They became fast friends in Elementary school.  Their bond continued to flourish over the years.  High-school is when things started changing a bit for the two of them. Scott's best man described it during his speech as he told the story of Scott rushing into the lunch room one day proclaiming his love for Erin.  Once Erin reached the age that her parents would let them date, they were inseparable.  As if that wasn't cute enough, Scott was on the football team, and Erin was always on the sidelines cheering him on as a cheerleader.  All American couple, huh?  I was blessed by the opportunity to photograph this wedding.  Since they've known each other most their lives, it was special to see how close their families were too.  It was the biggest celebration as this had been a long awaited marriage.  Congrats, Erin & Scott!  Loved capturing all your special moments!

Tim & Mayara | Engagement

Thursday 03.21.13

Tim and Mayara are a perfect match.  They are the friendliest couple you'll meet.  I've known Tim since our freshmen year of college.  Those who know him, call him T-mill.  He was always the guy  who greeted you with the most energetic 'Hell0!!"  Since our days at JMU, Tim joined the Army and has served over seas for many years.  A few years ago, Mayara, moved from Brazil to Maryland to be an Au Pair.  There she met Tim's family.  Over a time of leave from the Army, Tim came to visit his family.  At a party he and Mayara first locked eyes.  Mayara explains it as "Confetti fell from the sky and there was glitter....lots of glitter...and firework."  Seeing them together, you can tell the fireworks never left.  Mayara has a spunky personality and keeps Tim on his toes.  After they started dating, Mayra had to move back to Brazil.  They've spent hours in the air flying between the US and Brazil which is why we chose to take their photos with a airplane.  I loved this idea and it is safe to say this may be one of my favorite engagement shoots to date.  In the couple of hours we spent together I could see that they have an adventure awaiting their life as they get married.  Safe travels, you two!
