As Christmas is quickly approaching (one month from today, FYI) it is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle. Slowing down to enjoy the holidays seems to be a thing of the past. Between fighting mall warriors and receiving battle wounds in check out lines, I would greatly recommend a visit to Snead Christmas Tree Farm. This quaint little Christmas tree farm is located in Fredricksburg, VA. When I first arrived for a photo shoot with the Reid family I felt a load of stress fall off. My sister and I walked around for a while to get a feel of the place before the Reid's arrived and let me tell you...this farm is ADORABLE. There is something about driving through country back roads, walking in golden fields, and breathing in fresh farm air that does this girl's soul good. The Snead Christmas Tree Farm is family owned and operated. Everything is based off of trust, as their sign reads "You may cut or dig your own...pay at house." Umm, can I pull up a stool and grab a slice of apple pie too?
Now that you've had a sliver of tranquility, let me introduce to you the Reid family. The Reid family is very special to me. When I was a freshman in college and trying to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life, Leigh-Ann stepped in and introduced me to the world of graphic design. She is a talented designer herself and looking at her work convinced me to pursue a degree in Graphic Design. Since the Reid's are a military family, they often are on the move. During my study of Graphic Design, she and her husband moved to California. Even though the last couple of years she has lived on the other side of the US, and I on the other side of the world, we have continued to stay in touch. She has critiqued countless of my designs and has graciously offered her advice and guidance. As I geared up to move back to the US, I shared with Leigh-Ann my desire to pursue photography over design. "GO FOR IT" was always her response. She has been one of my greatest "cheerleaders." Leigh-Ann and her beautiful family are once again on the move. Florida is lucky to have them for a while....although, I must say, I don't know if Florida is prepared for this amazing family!
This dog wanted to help trim the tree but got a little carried away. They got their ornament back...eventually.
